10 Best Animated Movie Sequels

5. Frozen II

Wreck It Ralph 2
Disney

You might be sick to death of Let It Go, but you can't deny that Disney would have been crazy not to build on the success of Frozen with a sequel, and they absolutely didn't disappoint with this entry into the list.

It would have been so easy to simply take the formula for the first film and merely duplicate it with new songs and a new villain, or introduce a weak love-story, but with the pressure on, the creators of Frozen took their job very seriously. Frozen 2 spends the time carefully developing and growing both Anna and Elsa's character arcs and their surrounding relationships, and deftly touches on themes of global warming and grief in, what you might consider surprisingly so, a truly mature story-telling masterpiece.

Of course, with stand-out songs from award-winning writers and composers, and the same strong voice cast, Frozen 2 is one of the best purely-Disney animated sequels out there. Visually stunning, charmingly funny, and difficult not to sing-along to, even the casual fan has to appreciate how cute a fire lizard and forgetful snowman can be.
