10 Best Anime Movies Not Made By Studio Ghibli
9. Wolf Children
On the surface, this one might seem like a Studio Ghibli knock-off targeted towards Furries. But, it's a beautiful experience that plays around with some cute characters, a tried-and-tested visual style and some strong ideas about family/motherhood. So, don't judge a book by its cover.
Wolf Children tells the story of a woman named Hana, who falls in love with a werewolf. The two live peacefully and have a pair of children named Yuki and Ame. But, after their father is killed, Hana is forced to care for them on her own, all while keeping their werewolf identities secret.
The plot is very simple, as the children's lives begin to veer in opposite directions and Hana struggles to care for them both. However, the movie hardly lacks entertainment as the character's secret identities play into many tense and conflicting scenarios.
You'll fall in love with the characters, not only because of their adorable designs but because of how well they are written. You can truly understand the Wolf Children as they grow and discover themselves, making for one emotional tale.
