4. Swan Song For The Original Cast
One of the most shocking things about all of the deaths at the end of Infinity War was that while the snap took away several of the newer characters who many fans assumed would be safe, the original cast of Avengers were all left alive.
Every member of the Avengers from the first film (Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, Thor, and Hawkeye) are all still alive when the credits roll. Considering that several of these actors contracted tenures are on the verge of being finished and that Feige kept referring to Infinity War and Avengers 4 as a final chapter for the MCU as we know it, this was all incredibly surprising.
Which is why the trading lives theory makes perfect sense. However the team has to go about undoing Thanos' snap (whether it be time travel, quantum realm, etc.), they're going to have to make some big sacrifices in order to get the dead back to life. Avengers 4 will be about the original cast quite literally handing the franchise off to the newer heroes, giving their lives so that newer heroes like Spider-Man and Black Panther can return.
This would give the original cast a swan song, one last chance to share the spotlight together, while also performing the ultimate act of sacrifice.
