10 Best Cabin In The Woods Horror Movies

7. Friday The 13th

Eden Lake
Paramount

Halloween is arguably the best old school slasher ever made, but Friday the 13th is the one that set the rules of the sub-genre in stone for generations to come.

While refurbishing the notorious Camp Crystal Lake for its re-opening, a group of teenage camp counsellors start viciously dropping one by one. Premarital sex is fun and all...until Kevin Bacon takes an arrow in the neck.

Friday the 13th is a solid film in of itself. It's well paced, the kills are great, and Betsy Palmer's performance as the grief-stricken Mrs. Voorhees is downright chilling. However, the fact that one of the largest horror franchises spawned from this low-budget 1980 teenage slaughter-fest is what earns it its place on this list.

It acted as the genesis for a franchise that, along with a dozen movies, contains documentaries, books, comics, video and board games, and god knows how many other pieces of merchandise. Even to this day, its influence weighs heavily upon modern horror as both a genre and a fandom. Say what you will about the movie on its own, but that's one hell of an impressive feat for such a little movie.
