10 Best Characters From 2024 Horror Movies

Whether you loved Alien: Romulus or found plenty to fault, the easy fan consensus is that the movie's MVP is Andy, the android who serves as the surrogate brother of protagonist Rain (Cailee Spaeny).

Played terrifically by David Jonsson, Andy is an immediately charming character because, despite resembling an adult, he has a childlike sense of fascination and, as is often amusing, a deep-rooted social awkwardness.

Far away from malevolent androids like Ash, Andy quickly endears himself to the audience as a protector to the central human character - a role he gloriously upholds to the end, even excusing that overzealous invocation of one of the series' most iconic one-liners.

But at the same time, when Andy is reprogrammed and thus shifts his allegiance towards Weyland-Yutani, Jonsson does a magnificent job of making this version of Andy feel wholly distinct from the one we've come to know.

In a film where truly memorable human characters were in desperately short supply, Andy swiftly cemented himself as a classic cinematic synthetic, and one we'll hopefully see again in the currently in-development Romulus sequel.
