10 Best Christmas Horror Movies

9. Silent Night (2012)

Krampus movie
TriStar Pictures

This 2012 remake of 1984's Silent Night, Deadly Night was given a limited theatrical release in November 2012 and was subsequently released on Blu-Ray on 6 December of that year. The movie follows a small town sheriff, played by Malcolm McDowell in his second holiday-themed movie of 2012 (the other being Home Alone 5: The Holiday Heist), who is on the hunt for an active serial killer dressed up as Santa Claus.

This movie was also one in a trend of McDowell appearing in slasher movies late in his career, such as Rob Zombie's Halloween remake and its sequel.

While it isn't the best holiday slasher out there, it doesn't take itself too seriously and dishes out some solid seasonal kills. It also features a reliably hammy yet entertaining performance from Malcolm McDowell, who appears to have fun playing his role.

It is mostly predictable and formulaic horror fare, but it does provide some modest entertainment if you've run out of Christmas horror content. It received mixed to positive reviews from critics and earned $114,000 at the box office.
