9. Clark Kent V The Diner Bully (Superman 2)

The observant will note that I said no superheroes. Well, forgive me, because this inclusion is a pure moment of nostalgia from childhood here. And it's not strictly a superhero moment anyway, as this is all about Kal-El's earthling-alike alter-ego, Clark Kent.

Having bizarrely given up his superpowers to be with the woman he loves (Lois Lane), a deed she neither asked, nor, it seems, particularly wanted him to do – given her past form, Clark tries to defend her honour in a truck stop diner from the local bully bruiser.

It doesn’t end well. Clark is left bloodied, broken and humiliated while the considerably tougher Lois jumps in to stop it getting really nasty. And to make matters worse, there’s bad news on the TV.

And then we reach the end of the movie. Following the defeat of Zod, and having regained his reputation as a stand-up, dependable guy, Clark decides to head back to the diner to dish out a little reprisal on said bully. Of course, now, after crying to him mum about unfair it all was, he's had all his Superman powers restored.

It all seems bit petty to be honest; you'd have thought Clark / Supes was a bit bigger than these minor squabbles. Still there's always something a little gratifying about seeing bullies get their comeuppance.
