Directed by the famous King Hu, better known in later years for A Touch of Zen, Dragon Gate Inn is such an enduring classic with genuine, lasting appeal that its been remade twice. During the Ming Dynasty, an evil figure head murders a general to gain political standing and sends his victims children into exile where he plans to have them killed. While the children seek refuge in the titular Dragon Gate Inn, a heroic swordsman and the late generals loyalists prepare to hold the fort and fight back against the brutal regime. The film remains a firm favourite among cinephiles and even set box-office records in Taiwan, Korea and the Philippines upon first release.
