7. Last Hurrah For Chivalry (1979)

Did you know that before Hong Kong classics like The Killer and Hollywood hits like Broken Arrow and Face/Off, John Woo directed traditional martial arts films? Of these Last Hurrah For Chivalry remains his best. It tells the story of newly married swordsman Kao seeking revenge on the evil-doer who murders his family on his wedding night. With plenty of stunning choreography and Woo€™s signature trademarks, the film is an underrated classic and hinted at things to come from the director. It also marked the film debut of TV star Damian Lau, who would star in countless Hong Kong blockbusters in the years that followed.
