10 Best Fictional Planets In Sci-Fi Movies
3. Ego, The Guardians Of The Galaxy
A true natural wonder of outer space, Ego (Kurt Russell) is the Celestial sentient planet who can adapt his surface and structures at will, seen in James Gunn's The Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017).
The surface of the planet is made up of temples, vegetation and technological devices of every kind, all powered, controlled and created from the core outwards. Ego's only permanent inhabitant is Ego himself - the humanoid avatar that is able to interact and explore in lieu of the entire planet, and who is to Ego something like what Jesus was to God.
Oh, and he is also the father of Peter Quill (Star Lord).
In his search for meaning, Ego fathered beings across the universe to aid him, and he engineered the Expansion, seeking to terraform the known universe and spread his being to all other major planets, thus controlling and forming everything in his own image. Never content to sit on the sidelines, the Guardians of the Galaxy took umbrage with this and ultimately planted a bomb on Ego's brain/core that caused the whole planet to implode.
