10 Best Films Set During The Great Depression

8. O' Brother, Where Art Thou?

While it has never been my favorite film, this Coen Brothers charmer is loved by millions, wonderfully textured with an authentic look and feel, and immortalized by its soundtrack. The film itself is an adaptation of Homer's "The Odyssey." In this version George Clooney, John Turturro, and Tim Blake Nelson play three escaped convicts pursued across the 1930s South by the law. Along the way, they manage to stop off on a series of misadventures, the most famous being nabbing a record deal. The soundtrack may have been more of a hit than the film initially, but O Brother Where Art Thou? has evolved into somewhat of a cult classic over the last decade.
