"I'm on a different path now. This you must face alone. I love you, my sons. Look at that. Remember this place. Home."

Why It's Awesome

As much as the MCU has a stakes problem where character deaths are concerned, they really stuck the landing with Odin's (Anthony Hopkins) demise in Thor: Ragnarok.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) eventually find their father in Tønsberg, Norway, where he reveals he's dying and soon passes away, but not before offering some sage wisdom to his children.

Delivered with typical gravity by the great Anthony Hopkins, Odin implores Thor and Loki to take down their half-sister Hela (Cate Blanchett), which crucially reminding them to keep Tønsberg in mind.

This of course ends up paying off at the end of the movie when Asgard's physical location is destroyed in order to kill Hela, all while Thor comes to appreciate that Asgard is more than a place - it's a culture and a people that can't be so easy annihilated.

And so, when we see New Asgard for the first time in Avengers: Endgame, it's of course situated in Tønsberg, just as Odin slyly suggested in all of his infinite wisdom.
