10 Best Final Lines From MCU Characters
3. "People, They Need To Believe. And Nowadays, They'll Believe Anything." - Mysterio
The Line
"You'll see, Peter. People, they do believe. And nowadays they'll believe anything."
Why It's Awesome
Though Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) was a relatively divisive villain all things considered, his defeat served only as a Pyrrhic victory for Spider-Man, given that Mysterio left quite the mess for Peter to deal with on his way out the door.
Mysterio's dying words refer primarily to his ability to trick everyone, including Spidey, as to his faux-heroism, such is the disinformation-heavy age we live in, where technology can fool millions more easily than ever before.
But of course, Mysterio's also hinting at what's to come - the mid-credits scene where he frames Peter as his murderer before revealing his secret identity to the entire world, as motivates the plot of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
As a gigantic, appropriately theatrical "f**k you" to Spider-Man, this was a perfect way for Mysterio to go out.
