10 Best Final Speeches In Movie History

2. Lost Like Tears In Rain (Blade Runner)

Possibly one of the most famous monologues in recent cinematic history comes by way of 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner.

After spending the entire movie hunting Roy Batty and his band of Replicants, titular blade runner Rick Deckard finally catches up to Batty for a showdown of epic proportions.

Batty has the upper hand in almost every way, and Deckard seems to be well and truly beaten. Attempting to escape death at Batty's hands, Deckard leaps between two rooftops but barely makes it, clinging on for dear life.

And then Batty saves him. After pulling him up, Batty prepares himself for death, saddened by the idea that the memories of all the incredible things he has seen in his remarkably short life will be gone forever.

The speech delivered by Roy Batty to the man tasked with ending his life is heartfelt and emotional, proving that the replicant does indeed have a streak of humanity.

It's a poetic end to one of cinema's most complex and enigmatic villains, and it's decidedly short and sweet.

Thankfully, Hauer's dying words as Roy Batty have not been lost like tears in rain.
