4. The Master Control Program - Tron
The Master Control Program looks horrendous today, as the effect certainly hasn't aged well, alongside the film Tron itself. But trailblazers are often stabbing in the dark when it comes to making the future, and as such this film deserves the incredible amount of respect it receives.
MCP is one of the earliest examples of a fully computer generated character, and although the film he starred in was a financial flop, the legacy of this character remains today because of it. Having a fully CGI character act as the main antagonist was a huge responsibility and a massive risk from the filmmakers., but the character did a decent job of remaining intimidating thanks to his enormous design and incredible hyperintelligence.
David Warner played the voice of this character and brought along with him a sense of gravitas and authority. This helped to make the character threatening, even though you could barely even see the physical performance behind him.
It may not look very good to a modern audience, but Tron changed everything.
