9. The Standoff At Sparrow Creek

Peanut Butter Falcon
RLJ Entertainment

The Standoff at Sparrow Creek was originally premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, but it wasn't until January 2019 when the film finally received a theatrical release. The movie didn't generate a ton of buzz when it was released, though it was critically acclaimed with one critic describing it as the "First excellent film of 2019."

The movie was Henry Dunham's feature film directorial debut, and much like Quintin Tarantino did with Reservoir Dogs, the man came out swinging. This film combines mystery and action with intense and thrilling excitement.

The story revolves around former policeman, Gannon, who launches an investigation into the militia he joined after leaving the force when he suspects one of the members in a shooting at an officer's funeral. When the cops begin to close in on him and a group of militiamen he quarantined at a remote lumber mill, the interrogations begin in full earnest.
