10 Best Horror Comedies Of The 2020s (So Far)

4. Freaky

Freaky Vince Vaughn
Universal

In the spirit of Freaky Friday, Freaky revolves around two people who switch bodies, leading to laugh-out-loud hijinks.

But rather than having a mother and daughter swap bodies, Freaky follows a high schooler called Millie (Katheryn Newton again) who inexplicably finds herself in the body of a serial killer called The Butcher (Vince Vaughn).

Not only is Freaky a delightful concept, it's entertaining to see Millie and The Butcher coming to grips with their unique dilemma. On top of hiding from the cops, Millie must convince her schoolmates she's their friend while looking like a 6ft 5 middle-aged man. Since The Butcher can't rely on strength in a teenage body, he's forced to use sneakier tactics to dispose of his prey.

Now, the idea of Vince Vaughn prancing about like a schoolgirl sounds hilarious, but it could get repetitive quickly. However, the Dodgeball star portrays the role with sincerity and urgency, keeping viewers invested in her predicament.

Although Vaughn is great, Newton really cuts loose, especially when her character misleads victims with the "harmless teenager schtick" before lopping their heads off. Watching Newton flip from innocent girl to bona fide psychotic over and over is brilliant.
