From the Chiodo brothers, Killer Klowns from Outer Space proved that you don't always have to be about bone-chilling scares and amassing bloody body counts. Instead, this is a film that, while very much a horror movie with several deaths throughout it, carries out its carnage with a mischievous wink and a childlike creativity.

Ever since Killer Klowns from Outer Space was released back in 1988, there has constantly been talk of the picture getting a follow-up film. From wishful fans to the Chiodos themselves, the hope has very much been to see more from these heinous harlequins over the subsequent decades.

2012 saw a hugely positive move forward when brothers Charles, Edward, and Stephen Chiodo went public with the news that a Killer Klowns sequel was finally happening - even going as far as to reveal the movie's title as The Return of the Killer Klowns from Outer Space in 3D.

The Chiodos have long proven themselves to be geniuses with practical effects, stop-motion stylings, and marionette work, and the chance to see them try their hand in a 3D setting with the Killer Klowns sounded must-see. In this sequel, we'd see Grant Kramer's drunken bum MIke Tobacco serving as a mentor figure to youngsters who find themselves in the centre of a new visit from the Killer Klowns.

Sadly, Disney's assimilation of 20th Century Fox last year seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for this sequel.
