10 Best Horror Movies Set On Halloween Night
5. Halloween
David Gordon Green did the unthinkable in 2018 by digging up Michael Myers and returning him to Haddonfield for a fresh trilogy that sought to set the Halloween canon right. And while the jury is out on whether the trilogy as a whole managed this, it certainly got off to an impressive start.
Bearing the confusingly homonymous title Halloween, the first film of the trilogy (but eleventh film overall, and third to be called just "Halloween") brought the Shape back and retconned every other sequel, picking up 40 years on from where John Carpenter's original movie left off. Set on Halloween 2018, the film sets Michael loose on the sleepy town once again, with Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), her daughter and her granddaughter going to war to win back their lives.
This was a risky choice at the time given fan dedication to the property, no matter the questionable quality of pretty much every film in the franchise. But by bringing back Curtis, as a traumatised survivor who is trained and ready for Michael's next attack, Green well and truly pulled it off.
