Equal parts heartfelt and amusing, the movie is a treat that excels when it comes to its characters. In film, kids and their wacky hijinks have a tendency to be incredibly annoying. With this though, the opposite is the case. Everything the kid characters do is for the sake of protecting their mother, making them likable rather than bratty. The quality of character writing extends to the adults of the film too, especially when it comes to Lynette, the children's mother.

Lynette's journey from brooding divorcee to someone who becomes fully confident in who they are and what they want is endearing to watch. She's not only a great mother, but someone who grows to refuse to take any crap, even from an undead monster.

Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire knocks everything it's going for out of the park, creating a viewing experience both kids and adults can enjoy.
