10 Best Horror Movies Told In Real Time
7. Buried
One of the more grounded and realistic horror flicks listed there, this one merited inclusion thanks to its sparse, ingenious set-up... Not to mention the fact that few movies could hope to match the terrifying intensity of Down A Dark Hall director Rodrigo Cortes' 2010 feature Buried.
This infamous Ryan Reynolds vehicle features the actor alone onscreen in a dark coffin for its entire runtime, playing a defence contractor who has been kidnapped and buried alive. Set to die unless he can negotiate his ransom via a rapidly dying cell phone, the character runs through denial, bargaining, anger, and every other emotion under the sun during his claustrophobic nightmare.
A genuinely gripping ordeal, this entire flick not only takes place in real time but its action is confined to the lone location of the closed coffin's cramped interior as our poor hero slowly looses his sanity and precious oxygen whilst the darkness closes in.
The film's mean-spirited twist, along with a snappy runtime, ensure its a must-watch for anyone undeterred by the sheer tonal darkness.
