2. One Hour Photo

Fox Searchlight Pictures

Creepy in all the best ways, One Hour Photo plays into psychological thriller and horror territory at its finest, utilising a profoundly serious Robin Williams as an overenthusiastic photo developer that entwines himself into his customers family. Sy Parrish is incredibly lonely, wanting nothing more than to be a beloved 'Uncle Sy' to the Yorkin family that he's watched for years on end through developing their family photographs - getting closer and closer to their everyday life with each film roll they drop off.

When some pictures are handed over that implicit this perfect family isn't what Sy expected, he takes a turn for the worst, and its this powerhouse performance of an isolated man pushed to the brink is eerie, disturbing, and enough evidence to never make you commit to a shiny digital camera forever more. It doesn't need gore or death to stipulate its terrifying undertones, the threat of Sy's ever-watching presence more than enough to hammer home some spine-tingling horror.
