3. The Silence Of The Lambs

In The Silence of the Lambs, an FBI rookie must track down a sadistic serial killer before he claims his next victim. In order to do so, she's going to need a little help from everyone's favorite fictional cannibal.

What is so interesting about Hannibal Lecter and Buffalo Bill is how they contrast each other. Hannibal is a suave, sophisticated, man who, besides all the people eating, feels like the kind of guy you could grab a drink with (with some bars separating you both, of course). On the other hand, Bill is someone you wouldn't want to be caught dead being in the same room as.

Each of them is a monster, but just of a different breed. The way in which they are dramatically opposed from one another allows for the film to ask what it really means to be, for the lack of a better word, mad.

Sure, Hannibal eats people and wears a dude's face, yet, at the same time, he's also the only person you'd trust to take down Bill.
