9. Abraham Lincoln - Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies
"Kill. All. These. Zombies." Most of you who recognize the name The Asylum will probably not have a lot of good things to say about it. Responsible for a wave of 'mockbusters', unarguable cash-grab ripoffs of big name films, The Asylum rarely has a decent release to do anything but shame the movie it copies (
Paranormal Entity, Transmorphers, The Day the Earth Stopped and even
Age of the Hobbits being prime examples). When the company released their newest 'tie-ins' (imagine a giant pair of hands making quote mark fingers at this point) to
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the only major differences appeared to be the quality and the replacement of blood suckers to flesh eaters. Although this didn't prove to be such a bad thing. Despite their best efforts, the movie itself was saved by the titular role by Bill Oberst Jr., who actually gave a solid performance as the president-cum-zombie-slayer. He dispatches with the dead with relative pace and agility, and somehow he really looks the part. Even his weapon of choice, a (presidential?) scythe, seems cool enough to void the terrible sound effects that signal its arrival. Cheap, cheery, gory fun can be found with this film. Even if it did take a bats**t crazy idea and somehow bump it up a notch.
