10 Best "I Want" Songs In Animated Films

2. The Prince Of Egypt - "Deliver Us"

Arguably the best song in The Prince of Egypt, “Deliver Us” is a stirring orchestral masterpiece that sets the tone for the entire film.

Beginning with slow melody played on a solo trumpet, it launches into a drum-laden beat with a men's chorus chanting “Mud … sand … water … faster!” Starting as a crowd song that serves as the film's exposition, it nonetheless shows the plight of the Hebrew slaves who want nothing more than to be freed from their torment. The heavy percussion and use of whipping sounds ties in with both the lyrics and the brutal scenes of slavery.

Alongside the male chorus, we also get to hear Israeli singer Ofra Haza's powerful, hauntingly beautiful voice as her character Yocheved sings a lullaby – the same melody as the trumpet's – that speaks of her wish for her son Moses to live. This is before she sends him down a river in a basket so that the Pharaoh's goons can't kill him.

Haza's voice intermingling with that of the chorus is absolutely spine-chilling. Different wants are at play here, but deliverance as a theme applies to both, and “Deliver Us” definitely has viewers wanting everything to work out fine for both parties in the end.
