As mentioned earlier, the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier forever changed Agents of SHIELD overnight. With HYDRA emerging from the shadows, SHIELD in shambles and their ally, Bill Paxton's John Garrett, revealed to be the mysterious Clairvoyant, the Agents were thrown into a new world full of mistrust. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WMvywO1pvU By the end of the episode "Turn, Turn, Turn," Garrett was on his way to the Fridge, escorted by Victoria Hand and several SHIELD members, including Grant Ward. When Hand offers Ward the chance to kill Garrett and save them all the trouble of having to deal with him, Ward shoots her and the other agents instead, saving Garrett and leaving viewers stunned. For the entirety of the season, Ward had been a relatively blank slate and straight-laced SHIELD member seemingly devoted body and soul to the cause with not a whole lot of personality beyond that. That he was HYDRA all along was a moment no one saw coming and helped propel the final batch of episodes with a whole new - and welcome - level of tension.
