10 Best MCU Endings

8. Iron Man

Revisiting the original Iron Man nowadays is actually kind of endearing. Knowing the entire cinematic universe that was soon to follow, seeing Tony Stark doing everything in his power to fight his way out of the clutches of terrorists is a fairly simple scenario compared to some of the later plots. The stakes may have been lower, but Tony was still every bit the wise-cracking badass we know and love today.

After putting his life on the line to take out Obadiah Stain’s Iron Monger, Tony goes on to speak of the “malfunction” that occurred in Stark Industries a few days ago with the help of SHIELD’s Phil Coulson. With an airtight alibi, Stark arrives in the press conference ready for any question, only to be taken with the idea of being called a superhero.

Everything lines up for Tony to lay low, but instead of just cowering to expectations, he drops his cards only to declare that “I Am Iron Man.” That statement alone has become iconic, but the fact that Jon Favreau actually has “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath play out as the credits roll shows that he really knows what he’s doing. This may have been just a fun-filled adventure, but no one could have imagined where we would be going from here.
