Question: How do you challenge a man with unbreakable skin?

Answer: A man with unbreakable skin AND badass martial arts skills.

Bushmaster came to Harlem with a simple dream: kill the last surviving member of the Stokes family after they killed his. Fuelled by a compound known as Nightshade, Bushmaster launches a campaign of violence against Mariah Stokes and her legacy.

It’s Bushmaster’s sense of honour that makes him such a compelling villain. Although an arms dealing maniac at times, he was willing to work with Luke Cage when needed, especially to stop gang wars and the usage of drugs with their names in their neighbourhoods.

However, the violent nature of his crusade brought him to blows with Luke Cage, nearly drowning him in one fight. Eventually, Bushmaster gained a form of respect for Cage after he saved his Aunt.

In many ways, Bushmaster can be seen as a mirror image of Luke Cage, using enhanced abilities to protect their neighbourhoods. In other ways, he can be seen as divine retribution for Luke Cage dabbing in the first episode of the second season. It’s up to the viewer, really.
