4. Edgar Paget - Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar
Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar turned out to be one of the year's most pleasant surprises so far, an outrageously funny, intensely surreal comedy which saw Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo firing on all cylinders.
But the show-stealing treat of the movie was, in fact, Edgar Paget, as was played with shocking gusto and exceptional comedic timing by Jamie Dornan.
If your only significant exposure to Dornan prior to this was as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades trilogy, this was a refreshing slap in the face.
As the well-built henchman of antagonist Sharon Fisherman (also Kristen Wiig), Dornan's intense brow quickly gives way to goofy shenanigans, motivated by a desperate desire to finally crystallise an official relationship with his disinterested boss.
Who else this year sang a full-hearted ballad about their feelings while writhing around on the beach and climbing a tree? Nobody saw this character or this performance coming, which really just made it all the better.
