10 Best Movie Characters Who Appear In Only One Scene
5. Rahad Jackson - Boogie Nights
Alfred Molina is one of the great character actors of his generation.
While Molina may be most familiar for the likes of Frida, Chocolat, Enchanted April, his stage work, or as the nefarious Doctor Octopus of Spider-Man 2 fame, one of Molina's great turns is one of his smallest.
Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights may have chronicled the rise and fall of Mark Wahlberg's pants-packing Dirk Diggler, but the film had a truly stunning ensemble cast alongside Wahlberg's Dirk. PTA's 1997 movie won a whole host of awards - most notably Burt Reynolds picking up a Best Supporting Actor win at the Golden Globes - and it came as no surprise to see the film be so successful when Wahlberg and Reynolds had Julianne Moore, John C. Reilly, Heather Graham, William H. Macy, Don Cheadle, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Luis Guzman, and Thomas Jane alongside them.
As for Molina, his Rahad Jackson was a fleeting, brief part of Boogie Nights' larger picture. That didn't stop Jackson from being one of the most memorable elements of the film, though.
When Wahlberg's Diggler, Reilly's Reed Rothchild, and Jane's Todd Parker visit local drug dealer Jackson with the intent of passing off baking soda as cocaine, the tension is slowly amped up as the calm and cool Rahad has Night Ranger's Sister Christian blaring out while a young Chinese boy casually lets off firecrackers and a gun-carrying heavy watches on.
Even better is Jackson's cackle and frenzied reaction when this deal quickly goes south.
