4. Terminator 2: Judgement Day
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4o99k-aPKk Terminator 2 has one of the most visually gorgeous and staunchly iconic opening titles sequences of all time, and that's apt considering it's also one of the best science-fiction actioners of all time, intelligent, thrilling and beautiful to behold. After Sarah Connor gives us a quick run-down of the narrative, Brad Fiedel's superb, unforgettable theme kicks in, as Cameron bombards us with a wall of fire and the credits begin to roll. Through the fire we can make out a destroyed playground, a reflection of the future that John Connor has to prevent, and more directly tying into the horrifying dream that Sarah has, where a playground she's in with a young John is blown to bits by a nuclear explosion. Images like this combine with the emotive score to keep us engaged, leading up to the best shot of all - a zoom in on the T-800 endoskeleton emerging out of the fire, its red eyes piercing through the screen at us, as the theme tune reaches an apex and the credits come to an abrupt close, seguing seamlessly into the film's first scene.
