8. Derek Danforth Is The President's Son - The Beekeeper
Who in their right mind expected a Jason Statham-starring John Wick knock-off released in the dump month of January to have one of the most ludicrously unexpected plot twists of the entire year?
Throughout the surprisingly entertaining The Beekeeper, our steely hero Adam Clay (Statham) faces off against a tech-bro mega-douche by the name of Derek Danforth (Josh Hutcherson), who has been operating illegal phishing scams to fleece regular folk out of their hard-earned cash - and worse.
It's revealed late in the film, however, that Derek is actually the son of the President of the United States, Jessica Danforth (Jemma Redgrave).
This connection was totally concealed by the movie's marketing and ends up feeling like a legitimate surprise while not being ridiculous merely for its own sake.
Knowing that The Stath is taking on the President's a**hole of a nepo baby son just makes the climax that much more entertaining.
