10 Best Movie Robots
7. Baymax - Big Hero 6
Baymax’s pudgy, inflatable design isn’t necessarily the first thing you’d picture when you think of a robot, but he certainly fits the bill nonetheless. In fact, you could even argue this unique design has helped him stand out and be a more recognisable character amongst the other, more metallic creatures.
It’s not just his design though which gives Baymax an edge. His warm personality is infectious, and his lack of social cues and habit of saying whatever comes to mind demonstrates his sweet and caring side. His reaction when he punctures his inflatable suit is fantastic too.
Once he gets his exoskeleton, he packs some serious firepower along with the rest of the Big Hero 6 team, but while the action sequences are great, he truly shines on a personal level. Caring for Cass’ cat, looking after Hiro and just generally being a supportive friend are the moments we see Baymax at his best.
The fist bump he and Hiro share alone makes him one of the most wholesome robots ever put to film.
He sums up the core theme of mental health mattering as much as physical health perfectly, and is just all round a fantastic robot.
