10 Best Movie Soundtracks Of 2015

6. Montage Of Heck

The Film: Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck is a documentary about the front man of Nirvana, the rock legend from Seattle who tragically committed suicide in 1994. Created by HBO, its the first documentary about Cobain to have the co-operation and approval of his family, revealing a much more intimate portrayal of the musician's life. The Soundtrack: The soundtrack, then, is extremely significant, featuring Kurt's never before heard home recordings (though some have been floating around the internet for a while). Though Montage Of Heck: The Home Recordings has not been met without controversy (some claim the release of the recordings as a standalone album constitutes exploitation, whereas Rolling Stone gave the collection four stars) as a soundtrack to the film, the recordings come across very differently. When coupled with pictures and video footage, the music becomes part of an essential insight into Cobain's musical life.
