10 Best Movies Of Grimmfest 2016 Ranked
1. Train To Busan
And so to the number one, and the third zombie film in this list. But amazingly it's a zombie film like nothing you have seen before. Impressively blending the frenetic energy of World War Z with the inter-character political tensions of George A. Romero's Night Of The Living Dead, Sang-ho Yeon's apocalyptic actioner sets off at a sprint and barely lets up, leaving you wide-eyed and breathless at its conclusion.
The premise itself is a simple one: during a viral outbreak that turns almost everyone into bloodthirsty undead, a group of survivors are trapped in an express train heading to, yes, Busan. What distinguishes Yeon's feature, and the main reason you should watch it, is that at every turn it manages to surprise you. There are no obvious victims, no overly familiar genre tropes to induce weary sighs, no, Train To Busan is a heart-pumping, adrenaline filled ride that will make you gasp and pant along with the haplessly doomed passengers.
Zombies are more prominent in horror cinema than any other protagonist, and its notable that there are three on this list, but each one has its merits and reasons for watching. If you do only choose one though, make it Train To Busan. It is a must-see for any genre fan, or any film fan for that matter, so make sure you're first out of the station.
