10 Best Movies That Play Out In Real Time
7. Victoria
This 2015 German crime thriller is one of the most boldly innovative entries into the genre in years, a low-budget thriller that not only dares to unfold in real time, but was also shot in a legit single take while incorporating significant location shifts and even actual set-pieces.
Over the course of a 134-minute single take set in Berlin, we witness the prelude and aftermath of a heist which Spanish girl Victoria (Laia Costa) gets roped into.
Despite a few pacing lurches, the ambition and execution of this film is astonishing.
Given how many "one-r" movies take place in limited, easily controlled environments, Victoria is stunning in its eagerness to constantly change-up its setting, with characters driving between locations and in turn offering up a shockingly dynamic thriller in the process.
Even outside of its gimmick, this is a richly character-driven film with a terrific performance from rising star Laia Costa. Don't miss it.
