10 Best Movies To Receive No Oscar Nominations

7. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004)

lide Wes Anderson has had three of his movies nominated for Oscars. "Fantastic Mr. Fox" for Animated Feature Film, and "The Royal Tenenbaums" along with "Moonrise Kingdom" each were nominated for Best Original Screenplay. Anderson and Noah Baumbach would be nominated for Best Original Screenplay. It is still to this date Anderson's most expensive movie ($50 million). "The Royal Tenenbaums," his second most expensive movie, cost less than half that ($21 million). Robert Yeoman was more worthy of a Cinematography nomination than John Mathieson for "The Phantom of the Opera." So much of the movie was filmed underwater that Bill Murray became a certified diver. They did dim day shots for the wreckage of the sunken airplane, and dark shots in the abyss when they go for broke to find the Jaguar Shark. And I would give Clive Owen's Best Supporting Actor nomination for "Closer" to Willem Dafoe. Klaus Daimler is not the typical dark intellectual Dafoe usually does. He's "calm, collected, German." He feels he doesn't get the recognition he deserves, like he's an underachiever trying his best. And he thinks that after slapping Ned, a warning by Ned makes them even. Even though Ned gets even with his slap, Klaus doesn't like it that Ned has the company of his father while he doesn't.
