5. Planet Terror (2007)

I would love to give "Grindhouse" the credit, but "Planet Terror" and "Death Proof" were such different productions. A nomination for Best Cinematography should not be shared by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. Rodriguez gets the nomination to himself. He "scratched" shots digitally, unlike Tarantino who did it physically. This allowed The Weinstein Company to release a "scratch free" version as a supplement on the Blu-Ray. The absence of video and audio scratches changed the aura so much more than I expected. I hated the scratch free version. Janusz Kaminski was nominated for "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly." I think Robert Rodriguez is better.
