2. The Lion King (1994)
Not only one of the greatest musicals of all time, but also one of the greatest animated films. Right from the opening moments, with the sun rising and the African chants, you know you're in for something amazing. For the next 87 minutes you're sucked into a world blending Biblical epic, Greek mythology, and Shakespearean drama with seamless animation and a stellar voice cast. It's no wonder when The Lion King was first released people flocked to the theaters, and by the end of its theatrical run it had become the second highest grossing film ever, behind only Jurassic Park. It was also nominated for four Academy Awards (three of which were separate noms for Best Original Song) and won two of those - Best Original Score and Best Original Song, 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight?'
