2. Avengers: Infinity War
The opening to Avengers: Infinity War isn't particularly flashy or iconic in any way, but it did exactly what it needed to do.
With a franchise that spawns over a decade and nearly 20 movies, it can be difficult to start a movie in a unique way, but what better way to do it than by having your new big bad guy, beat the life out of two of the MCU's strongest heroes, then kill the toughest villain they've ever faced? It immediately sets-up Thanos as, by far, the biggest threat the Avengers have ever seen.
It's also quite a shocking start to the movie, as audiences did not expect to see Thor in such a precarious position after the events of Ragnarok, let alone to have Thanos break Loki's neck. It perfectly sets the tone for what is to come and puts the Avengers and the audience on the back-foot.
After 10 years, it was the wake-up slap audiences needed for a Marvel movie.
