7. The Airport Chase (Casino Royale)

Casino Royale so effectively hit all of the character arcs and story beats that it would have been forgiven even if the action had been lacklustre. Thankfully, this was not the case, and the chase scene through Miami International Airport is proof positive of this.

Hunting down the henchman Carlos before he can explode a new plane, Bond is pushed to the limit as he races through the tarmac. He clings to the top of a fuel truck and ducks landing airplanes overhead until it finally looks as if Carlos is going to succeed with his mission.

Of course, Bond is far too resourceful for that, and watching his sly smile as Carlos accidentally blows himself up reminds us just how effective Bond is and why he€™s so lovably cocky.

To this point, we€™d seen Bond operate and the film had already shown some impressive action, but this scene brought it all together. His swagger, his physicality, and his intelligence were all showcased amidst this high-octane chase, which remains a defining action scene not just for this series, but for the entirety of modern action films.
