2. I Was Your Only Friend - The Social Network

With Aaron Sorkin's sharp screenplay, David Fincher took a talky boardroom drama and made it into one of the most exciting films of the 2010s. The Social Network tracks Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerburg as he develops the ubiquitous social networking site and burns all of his bridges in the process. One of these bridges is his former CFO and best friend, Eduardo Saverin, who's the most likable character in a sea of narcissistic sociopaths. As Mark and Eduardo get the site off the ground, the two friends argue over how to run it as a business.

Throughout the film, Eduardo has been putting up his family’s money to help fund the site, and he becomes increasingly frustrated when Mark makes rash business decisions with playboy entrepreneur Sean Parker. After Eduardo freezes Facebook's bank account, Mark and Sean retaliate by tricking Eduardo into signing contracts that drastically dilute his share in the company.

This betrayal sends Eduardo into a rage where he smashes Mark’s laptop and calls him out in front of all his employees. The film has been building towards this eruption, and it’s so satisfying to see Eduardo purge all his anger with Mark and Sean. Andrew Garfield’s performance and the scathing dialogue sell the scene, and even though Eduardo technically lost everything in this moment, he wins by walking away with his morality intact. The cherry on top is when he makes the smug Parker flinch with a fake punch.
