10 Best Sci-Fi War Films
1. The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars was practically named to be the king of the Sci-Fi War subgenre.
The Empire Strikes Back is seen by many fans as the best of the bunch, and it truly does tick all of the boxes.
There's the battle on the ice planet of Hoth to kick the film into high gear early on, plenty of character development and the beautiful Cloud City on Bespin as a backdrop for the infamous "I am your father" reveal (spoilers, if you haven't seen it).
There's a truly epic lightsaber duel between Luke and Darth Vader, culminating in Luke losing his hand before being on the receiving end of one of the most iconic lines in all of cinema.
The Empire Strikes Back is the film that proved that Star Wars: A New Hope was more than just a fluke, and it propelled the Sci-Fi genre to the forefront of audiences' minds.
Also, seeing Leia kiss Luke on Hoth has been making us cringe for years now, and surely that's the mark of great viewing.
