10 Best Sniper Scenes In Film

8. American Sniper

American Sniper
Warner Bros.

American Sniper is a biographical war drama in which Bradley Cooper plays real-life American sniper Chris Kyle, famously the most lethal sniper in American History. The film of course depicts Kyle as the great American hero but, interestingly, it frames this hero status within a tortured soul. A gritty, realistic look at the horrors of war and the snap life or death decisions that a sniper must make in the heat of battle.

This grit and pressure is never more evident in the film than the RKG scene. Kyle, watching from the rooftops, spies a woman and a child apparently carrying a grenade. 'They'll fry you for this if you're wrong' are the words whispered in Kyle's ear as he deliberates on whether or not to take the shot.

Adulation rains down on Kyle as he expertly guns down both woman and child in difficult to watch few moments. Through the scope we linger, with Kyle, on the lifeless body of the child he has 'heroically' taken out. A stark reminder of the human cost of war and the cold, hard truths of the life of a soldier.
