Duck, You Sucker! (A Fistful of Dynamite) is one of Sergio Leone's most underrated and overlooked Westerns, what with it being his last contribution to the genre, so it stands to reason that you may have missed it after binging his previous efforts.

The second film in Leone's epic 'Once Upon a Time' trilogy, Duck, You Sucker! follows other Westerns made in the Zapata mould in that it roots itself in the Mexican Revolution of 1910, teaming up a former IRA Revolutionary (James Coburn) with an outlaw turned revolutionary, played by Rod Steiger (Eli Wallach was previously optioned for the role, but studio interference dictated Steiger take the part).

What follows is a brilliant film that, while not as politically charged as other efforts in the sub-genre, sets out to tell a character-driven tale about the relationship between revolution and friendship. It doesn't quite reach the heights of the director's other efforts, but it's undoubtedly one of the best Zapata Westerns and indeed, one of the best Westerns in general.
