With Spider-Man probably being Stan's most famous creation, it's no surprise that he's appeared in every film based off of the character despite the series being produced by Sony. Oddly enough, in 2002's Spider-Man and its 2004 sequel, Stan plays an almost identical role, pulling a child (Spider-Man) and a woman (Spider-Man 2) from falling debris caused by Spider-Man's battles. A longer cameo from Spider-Man was cut too, with Stan apparently handing Peter a pair of glasses and saying: "Hey kid, would you like a pair of these glasses? They're the kind they wore in X-Men." Why the scene was cut is unclear (maybe director Sam Raimi wanted to keep the focus on Stan's heroic exploits?) but Stan's fourth wall breaking habits would return in later cameos.
