The story follows Conor MacLeod, A.K.A the Highlander. Now living under the guise of Russel Nash, Highlander belonged to a class of immortals who had walked the Earth for centuries. Their endgame, was a final showdown known as the Gathering where, the immortals were to battle one another until one remained. Whoever won, would attain the ultimate knowledge of the universe.
Predictably enough, there’s an evil immortal out there who wanted to use this power to plunge mankind into an eternal dark age.
It all kicks off in New York where Highlander is confronted by another immortal in a parking lot. After Conor does away with him, the police show up and arrest him. Although he is released, the forensic expert handling the case, Brenda Wyatt, refuses to let this go; continuing to pursue Conor until she found the truth about him. Eventually the big evil, named the Kurgan, shows up to kill Conor. The two of them being the only immortals left.
