8. Hummingbird
Hummingbird was a bonkers mess of a movie. Part comedy drama, part romantic thriller, the end result was more rambling and muddled than a Christmas uncle. The trailer, on the other hand, was a mini-masterpiece. Intriguing and dazzling, the preview was an action-packed two-minute journey of redemption and violence, promoting a vehicle that seemingly knew how to utilise Statham's very specific set of skills of punching, growling and punching whoever didn't flee from the growling. Why It Works: Despite carrying the weight of one of 2013's most bizarre titles the trailer excels by wasting no time with backstory. Instead it jumps straight into the thick of the action, which is exactly where 'The Stath' should be. Bones break, everyone shouts and Jason wears a suit, while title cards give us much-needed guidance on what the film is actually about. By the time Statham has taken care of a bunch of football hooligans sporting colours from a team that exists nowhere in the world and has held a man who could only be described as a toss-pot banker over the edge of a building, the audience knows that this trailer means business just like Statham.
