10 Big 2016 Movies That Were Meant To Come Out Last Year

9. The Jungle Book

The Movie: The first of two high-profile adaptations of Rudyard Kipling's classic novel in the coming years (the other is a motion capture affair from Andy Serkis), Disney's The Jungle Book boasts an all-star cast (Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson), cutting edge CGI and the director of Iron Man. Naturally it'll need to make a lot of money. Original Release Date: 15th October 2015 New Release Date: 15th April 2015 Why Did It Change? Autumn used to be rather quiet for blockbusting releases, dominated instead by smaller genre movies and Oscar hopefuls, but thanks to the likes of Harry Potter, Twilight and The Hunger Games that's all changed, with many big movies now aiming for the fall months. And so, had The Jungle Book kept its original October 2015 slot, it would have found itself in direct competition with The Martian, Spectre and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 - not a fight it could feasibly win - leading to it taking up the relatively competition-free April slot (which used to belong to The Finest Hours).
