10 Biggest Box Office Bombs That Lost Millions

8. Jack The Giant Slayer

Production Budget: $200,000,000 Worldwide Gross: $197,937,603 Estimated Losses: $101,156,199 Unlike most of the films on this list Jack the Giant Slayer wasn't hampered by issues during filming, but it was delayed from its initial June 2012 release date to March 2013 because of the film's extensive (and expensive) special effects work. In fact, it took seven different effects studios to render the hundreds of effects shots in the film. The ultimate problem with Jack the Giant Slayer is that it was a very expensive movie that audiences didn't have much interest in seeing. The fact that it was a PG-13 rated fairy tale adaptation left parents confused whether or not it was an appropriate movie for kids. A week later, the far more popular (and PG rated) Oz the Great and Powerful was released and the similarly-themed Jack the Giant Slayer slipped into obscurity. Despite the overseas box office bringing Jack the Giant Slayer to nearly $200 million, the film still lost over $100 million.
